NFF Maumee Bay Turf Center / Danny’s Cafe – Rossford Unsung Hero Awards for High School Seniors

August

Excitement is in the air for another football season!

Weekly UNSUNG HERO AWARD winners (w/ a plaque & BSCN taping) will be presented from your response to this email.  Please reply promptly to recognize a SENIOR at your high school.  Our goal is to get at least one nomination from each school for the UNSUNG HERO AWARD in the BCSN viewing area.  Please send HS senior nominee and brief information on why your nominee should be considered for the Unsung Hero Award.

The National Football Foundation (NFF, Toledo Wistert Chapter) is excited to partner with Maumee Bay Turf Center, Danny’s Cafe – Rossford, and BCSN in presenting the UNSUNG HERO AWARD to deserving high school seniors that are making a positive impact on high school football programs in the BCSN viewing area.

This email is to solicit nominees for the high school football season’s UNSUNG HERO AWARD. Winners will be chosen from your response to this email and announced and videoed each week (Wednesdays) by BCSN, alongside an NFF board representative and a local football official.  You only need to nominate your player(s) one time, as your nomination(s) will be added to a pool of players we will select from throughout the season. You can nominate at any time, even prior to your first game of the season.  The sooner you send in your high school senior nomination the more opportunity you will give your student to be selected.  Weekly player performance does not affect selection.

Weekly winners will also be eligible for the $1500 scholarship presented at the Annual NFF Scholar-Athlete Banquet, in March, at the Glass City Center in Toledo, Ohio.  Here is a link to last year’s winners:

Below is a summary of what we are looking for with your nomination(s):

       • SENIOR HS student (required)
• A key contributor but may not get the headlines or show up on the stat sheet (
i.e., senior leaders that do not get recognized otherwise: linemen, long snappers, managers, role players, someone who has overcome adversity and/or a senior you view as vital to your football team that works hard behind the scenes).
• Male or Female may be nominated and we are open to your ideas to recognize an UNSUNG HERO representing your high school football program.

Please email your senior nominee(s) to nffuha@gmail.com

Any seniors nominated in preseason and during the season will be added to the “UHA nominees list” to be considered for one of the weekly winners during the season. Please don’t delay as we will act each week based on the list.

Selections will be made each Sunday evening and the coach/school will be contacted by an NFF representative each Monday to set up the BCSN shoot at Wednesday’s practice (before or after based on availability).

Good luck with your football season and thank you for all that you do for your players, high school football and your community.

Sincerely,
Bob Pinkston

The Unsung Hero Award is sponsored by the Toledo/Wistert chapter of the National Football Foundation, with support from BCSN and the Northwest Ohio Football Officials Association.

Each week throughout the fall football season, coaches from the BCSN viewing area submit candidates for consideration of the award. The Unsung Hero could be an Outstanding Practice Player, a Lineman that graded out well in a game and exceeded expectations or a Special Teams Player that delivers. Equally important is the recognition of the Student Athlete performing in the classroom, where they earn at least a 3.2 GPA. Players are awarded plaques during one of their practices by the Northwest Ohio Football Officials Association and a video interview is conducted by BCSN. At the end of the season, one of the players is selected to receive a scholarship as the Unsung Hero of the Year, which is awarded at the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Banquet in March.
